Pa2X/Pa800 Operating System Version 2 Released



OSIMO, Italy — Operating System Version 2.0 for the Pa2X/Pa800, Korg's most powerful arranger keyboards, has been released. As usual, the new OS is freely downloadable from Korg Italy's web site (www.korg.com), and can be easily installed by the user.

The new operating system includes important new features and enhancements, such as the extraordinary DNC (Defined Nuance Control), a Score Viewer, a powerful Search function – and much more.

• DNC Defined Nuance Control is a great advancement in sound generation and performance control. By assigning special articulations, noises and nuances to a physical control or playing style, you can increase the realism of your sounds.
By playing legato you can call up a different Sound, use after touch or the joystick to call in breath noise or harmonics. Or let the Pa automatically cycle between slightly different samples to add timbral variety to your playing.
A set of new Sounds and Performances has been added, to make full use of the new DNC features and serve as an example to your own programming. Among the others, you will find new Clarinet, Harmonica, Sax, and Guitars.

• The Score Viewer displays the lead track (or any other track) as clear and plain traditional musical notations with notes or chords, together with lyrics and chord abbreviations. Chord names can also be seen in different languages (English and Italian). For music learners, we also added a function to show note names next to each note.
The Score Viewer automatically adapts the score display to the track’s key and clef, with automatic beaming, spacing and bar placement. Triplets and accidentals are automatically recognized. A sophisticated interpretation algorithm cleans up the score display, to allow for easy reading even with rubato (non-quantized) playing.

• The Search function is a great help for everyone keeping a huge collection of songs or samples in their hard drives. The flexible Search function can scan your disks or a single directory for files whose name includes the entered text string.

Boss GT-8 Guitar Multi-Effects Processor

Wind controller players are going to love this box! Double your power with BOSS's new GT-8 floor-based mega processor. Loaded with twin COSM® modeling engines, it brings unprecedented performance and tonal control to the stage and studio. The Dual COSM amp section provides two discrete amp channels; you can layer and manipulate each engine independently to create wildly expressive sounds. Thanks to the Solo Switch function, lead sounds can be immediately activated - perfect for ripping through the mix. Though this box was designed for guitarists, it is an amazing effects box with tons of highly useful effects for the wind controller player. This unit does intelligent harmonizing- tell it what key you are in and it will produce 1 or 2 additional voices that stay in key. Great for the solo wind controller player! We also like the Intelligent Ring Modulator for serious timbral manipulations, and sustain effect that freezes whatever sound is coming in. It then allows you to play over the sustained sound complete with effects. The bend effect is great as well. You can assign a pitchbend amount to the footpedal and detune or radically pitch shift your synth's sound.

To record, simply connect an instrument or microphone (XLR inputs with phantom power are provided), and follow the logical flow of controls on the left side of the panel. Computer Connection

The BR-1200CD has a USB port for simple, one-cable data exchange with your computer. You can export audio tracks to your computer in WAV format, and safely save backups of your song data. If you have WAV files you would like to use, you can import them to the BR-1200CD’s tracks via USB as well. The BR-1200CD is compatible with both PC and Mac, including Mac OS X.

Features

FSX keyboard - The Tyros3 features the highest quality synthesizer keyboard we’ve ever made: the FSX keyboard. Physically, the keys are of high-precision manufacture and offer greater durability than conventional models. Most importantly, however, the keyboard has enhanced touch response, making it the most expressive and musical keyboard in its class.

TFT LCD Display - Tyros3 is the first Yamaha digital keyboard to feature a high-resolution, 640×480, color TFT (Thin Film Transistor) LCD screen. Big and bright, the 7.5 inch display shows all important settings and parameters with crystal clear clarity, even under extreme lighting conditions. The TFT display has a hugely wide viewing angle which means the content is clearly visible whatever your playing position. The entire display panel is 5-point adjustable; flat for storage or tilted up to enhance visibility during performance.

Super Articulation 2 - Mainly for wind instrument Voices, a special Yamaha technology called AEM has been used, which features detailed samples of special expressive techniques used on those specific instruments - to bend or slide into notes, to “join” different notes together, or to add expressive nuances at the end of a note, etc.
Articulation Element Modeling (AEM) - Articulation Element Modeling (AEM) is the technology for simulating this characteristic of instruments. During performance, the most appropriate sound samples are selected in sequence in real time, from huge quantities of sampled data. They are smoothly joined and sounded - as would naturally occur on an actual acoustic instrument.

Intuitive, Quick-Access Sliders - Eight sliders have been provided just below the LCD display let you conveniently and quickly adjust all parameters shown in the display. The additional ASSIGN slider allows you to assign a desired function (volume, reverb, etc.) and control it in real-time during your performance. These nine sliders function as footage levers when the Organ Flutes display is shown.

Two-track Hard Disk Recorder - The Hard Disk Recorder lets you record your performances to two audio tracks - Main and Sub. A Bounce recording feature lets you record even more tracks, allowing you to easily record multiple parts in layers.

Massive 80GB HDD - Staggering amount of MIDI data, style data, wav files and the like can be stored on the keyboard’s internal hard disk.

Convenient Multi Pad Sync function / Registrations and OTS Information - You can embellish your performance as you play with several preset phrases by using the Multi Pads. These can even be synchronized with Style/Song playback. The information displays for Registration Memory and One Touch Setting allow you to confirm the registered panel setups easily.

Voice Expandability - Download additional Voices from the website and load them to the Tyros3 - and increase your selection of available voices.

High-Speed Communication - The built-in LAN terminal lets you easily connect your instrument directly to the Internet. The USB terminals compatible with USB 2.0 High-Speed enable high-speed communication with USB storage devices and computers.
